ZIP CODE LEVEL DATA

Welcome to the Brooklyn Health Map!

To the left, you will find a map of Brooklyn showing various health and demographic data on the census tract level. There is also a "Zip Code Boundaries" layer, which you can use to orient yourself with the different areas of Brooklyn.

  • Click each tract to find relevant data about block groups
  • Toggle the "Zip Code Boundaries" layer to find population data on the zip code level and to see where census tracts fall and are divided
  • Zoom in to see street names and road level details on the map and to see which streets and blocks fall within each tract

To view a summary of health data across all categories, click the "Select a Zip Code" dropdown button above and select a zip code.

Finally, check out the charts below to see an overview of the health statistics on a neighborhood level (neighborhoods defined as geographical neighborhoods)

The data are derived from the 2024 PLACES: Local Data for Better Health project, New York City Department of City Planning District Profiles, and the American Community Survey 2022 Language Spoken at Home for the Population 5 Years and Over and Demographic and Housing Estimates tables.

Zip code level language statistics are estimates calculated using the HUD-USPS 'ZIP-TRACT' ZIP Code Crosswalk files from the first quarter of 2021. As a result, the uncertainty of estimates of the aggregate language data is higher at the zip code level, than at the tract level (95% CI).

Shapefiles for zip code areas, Community Districts, and Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs) were collected from the New York City Open Data Portal.
